Paignton is a thriving holiday resort in the south west of England, in an area affectionately known as the English Riviera, which encompasses Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. It is also the home of the Torbay palm, which flourishes in the mild climate of the bay and has become the logo of The English Riviera.
Goodrington Sands Beach in Paignton is at the heart of the English Riviera, midway between Brixham and Torquay, a safe sandy award winning family beach where you can hire pedalos, sun loungers, beach huts or deck chairs, or go for a stroll through the gardens on the cliffs, which are lit up at dusk, to Paignton harbour.
Adjacent to the beach is Goodrington park with boating lake, Go-karts, Quaywest water theme park, Amusements, Crazy Golf Pitch and Putt, The Seashore Centre and a Brewers Fayre family eatery pub which has excellent child facilities. You can also board the Paignton to Dartmouth steam train here at Goodrington, for a really spectacular journey along the coast.
One of the great beauties of Torbay is its unspoilt coastline offering some breathtaking views. The aptly named English Riviera has a 22 mile stretch of coastline, in which there are 20 safe beaches and secluded coves.
