Renowned for its healthful climate, Torbay which is affectionately known as the English Riviera gets its name from the ancient village of Torre; hence Tor Bay encompasses the sea area between Berry Head and Thatcher Rock, and on land the three towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
Goodrington Sands Beach in Paignton is at the heart of the English Riviera, midway between Brixham and Torquay, a safe sandy award winning family beach where you can hire pedalos, sun loungers, beach huts or deck chairs, or go for a stroll through the gardens on the cliffs, which are lit up at dusk, to Paignton harbour. Goodrington also has two secluded coves just over half a kilometre from Goodrington Sands beach and these are Saltern Cove and Oyster Cove.
So whether you are after a place to lay out your towel, build sandcastles, have a gentle paddle, ramble through a rockpool or just a quiet place to sit and watch the surf, you are sure to find it here at Goodrington Sands beach in Paignton Devon, which is at the centre of Torbay on the English Riviera.
Visiting the attractions of Torbay will make for a very enjoyable time, as there is something for everyone, from riding on the steam trains to a day out at Paignton Zoo, or if that is not your thing, then a walk along the breakwater at Brixham, which penetrates over a kilometre into the sea, now that´s cool.
