Torquay on the English Riviera has plenty of great beaches , 10 in all, these are Ansteys Cove, Babbacombe Beach, Beacon Cove, Corbyn Head, Hollicombe Beach, Maidencombe Beach, Meadfoot Beach, Oddicombe Beach, Watcombe Beach and Torquay´s main beach, Torre Abbey Sands.

Torquay also has a large marina and harbour with plenty of pleasure boats offering trips along the beautiful south Devon coastline to Paignton, Brixham, as well as Dartmouth and on up the River Dart to Totnes.

If you like the night life, Torquay is definitely the place to be, with a wealth of restaurants, pubs, clubs, and even a casino. Of all the 3 towns, Torquay being the largest has the most diverse choice. In fact it has 3 theatres, the Palace Theatre on Torquay sea front, the Babbacombe Theatre on Babbacombe sea front and the Little Theatre at Meadfoot.

Torquay on the English Riviera became famous as a tourist destination way back in the Victorian era with the arrival of the railway, and recently by the comedy show called Fawlty Towers about a hotel in Torquay.
